About

Hi, I’m Norma

My story starts in a small California town. I am a First Gen daughter of farmworkers who read a lot, dreamed big and created the life of her dreams. Along the way, I went to the East Coast for college, moved to Los Angeles for law school, started a family, and discovered my calling as a Latinx book advocate. My biggest accomplishments to date: healing and learning to unapologetically embrace who I am. These days, my life revolves around reading, curating and amplifying Latinx books. Oh, there are also a few rowdy art parties, dope book launches and amiga-filled dinners. Some days, I almost can’t believe all the abundance and beauty I’ve manifested. Thanks for being here!

A BIT MORE ABOUT ME

Literary Advocate

Connecting readers and brands with books is one of my favorite things to do. I leverage the power of storytelling to amplify community. My book work aims to bring more nuanced representation and equity to the literary landscape.

Host

Collaborating with #WeAllGrowLatina to host the Latinas & Libros book club is one of my fave projects, ever. Together, we work to highlight authors from our community. The group has welcomed writers including Isabel Allende, Angie Cruz, Ingrid Rojas Contreras, Yazmin Ramirez, and Christopher Rivas, just to name a few. This monthly book club has grown into a community several thousand strong. Join us!

Founder

Fabian Flores started as a Latinx-focused traditional publishing company. We now curate pop-ups and act as creative directors for book experiences. We collaborate with publishers, brands and tastemakers to create bookish magic.

Creator

Content creation around all things Latinx lifestyle, conscious consumption and entrepreneur life brings me a lot of joy. Some of my content has a few million views. I work with select brands and institutions to help further their reach and connect with other Latinas.

Writer

Personal essays are my jam. I truly believe that honest and vulnerable storytelling can heal, create connection and change lives. My work has been published by the New York Times. I’m dying to write a book, it just hasn’t been the right time. As a freelance writer, my work seeks to amplify Latinx art, books and lifestyle.

Speaker

I love talking about equity in the bookworld, representation in the arts & culture, and the power of storytelling. Whether I’m on a panel, a Zoom screen or in person, I strive to be the kind of speaker that is engaging and inspiring

For Fun

I’m a mama to two beautiful souls, and a chingo of plants. I love to travel, eat, exercise and go on adventures of all sizes. Fashion and interior design make me almost (almost, people, almost) as happy as books. A good dance party is always a ‘yes’ in my book.

Artivist

As an artivist, I connect collectors, curators and media with artists & galleries. I also strategically help museums acquire work, fund exhibitions and generate exhibition excitement. As a Chicanx/Latinx art collector, I am building a collection that focuses on the diversity and joy of our experience.
